Newman!
Over the Thanksgiving break, my wife and I travelled down the coast of California. Our dinner destination for Thanksgiving was the Ranch House, in tiny Ojai, CA, located midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.
We reserved our Thanksgiving dinner at the Ranch House restaurant because we heard great things about it. In all, the meal was good (not great) but the atmosphere stole the show. Dining in the midst of bamboo gardens, coy ponds, and gardens of herbs, made it a most memorable night.
The reason I’m bringing this up here is because there was one thing that struck me hard while reviewing the menu of the Ranch House online before we left. There, was a quote from Paul Newman, that stated “Cuisine is cuisine but the Ranch House is original”.
Even though we were already committed, after reading that quote, I was convinced we’d have a wonderful experience. Not so much that I’m a fan of Paul Newman nor because the quote means all that much — but an odd combination of the two.
See, the Ranch House promoted a third party endorsement from a well-known figure that somehow gave me confidence and peace of mind that we made the right choice. Odd, because I’m not really a sucker when it comes to endorsements but there I was — brainwashed! In a good, clean fun way.
Visit the Ranch House yourself and let me know what you think!
